Lead Qualification
Lead qualification is the process of collecting the minimum information needed to know whether an inquiry is a real, actionable opportunity and what it will take to act on it.
Why it matters
A qualified lead saves everyone time: the business does not drive to a job that is not real, and the customer does not wait for a callback that asks questions that could have been asked up front.
For a local service business, qualification usually means confirming the service area, understanding the scope of the request, and gauging urgency, without asking so many questions that the person gives up answering.
Good qualification asks one question at a time and stops as soon as it has enough to act, rather than running through an exhaustive checklist regardless of the situation.
Example
A roofing inquiry is qualified once the assistant knows the address is in the service area, the issue is an active leak (not a routine inspection), and a rough timeline.
